AB 714 – Truck Driver Training Schools
Requires all heavy truck driving education programs that provide any training or curriculum for Class A, B, or C commercial driving licenses, regardless of the $2,500 monetary threshold, to be certified by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.
Updates the process and deadline for filing behested payment reports by requiring behested payment reports to be filed directly with the Fair Political Practices Commission using their electronic filing system.
AB 805 – Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship
Establishes the Career Apprenticeship Bridge Program to coordinate and establish apprenticeships for opportunity youth from 16 to 24 years of age.
AB 1287 – Universal Alcoholic Logo
Clarifies requirements for the labeling of beer, prohibiting a licensee from identifying one product and selling something different to a consumer.
AB 1730 – Title IX- California Community Colleges
Intended to enact several recommendations as proposed in the California Community College (CCC) Gender Equity report published by California Community on December 1, 2025.
AB 1809 – Job Order Contracting Sunset Removal
Removes the sunset on the authorization for school districts and community college districts to use Job Order Contracting (JOC) and clarifies that “individual” contracts issued under a “master” JOC contract are valid for five years.
AB 1829 – CalWORKs Recipients Education Program
Strengthens financial support for low-income student-parents participating in the California Community Colleges CalWORKs Recipient Education Program (REP) by allowing the use of existing program funds to provide basic needs assistance and expands access to off-campus work-study opportunities through employer match flexibility.
AB 1871 – Dual Enrollment (AB 731 Reintroduction)
Proposes reforms to the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Program to remove student-level barriers and expand participation.
AB 1928 – Title IX - Student Representation
Ensures that each party to a Title IX proceeding at a postsecondary institution can have both a support person and an advisor accompany them at all stages of the campus grievance process.
AB 2176 – Student Housing Working Group
Establishes an intersegmental student housing working group to coordinate planning across the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), and California Community College (CCC) systems.
AB 2206 – CTE Teaching Credential
Establishes a pilot program that permit a limited number of community colleges to offer a postbaccalaureate teacher preparation program for career technical credentials.
Revises procedures on the sale of surplus residential property within the State Route 710 corridor and establishes a process for the City of South Pasadena to offer surplus residential property to present tenants.
Clarifies a requirement that local agencies provide translations during an emergency.
Establishes a state level designation for Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANHPI-Serving Institution) to recognize public and private postsecondary education institutions that demonstrate intentional commitment towards supporting Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students.
Requires the California State University (CSU) and California Community Colleges (CCC), and requests the University of California (UC), to provide training to students, faculty, or staff prior to the deployment of an artificial intelligence (AI) tool, program, or application.
AB 2436 – In-State Tuition for Olympic Athletes
Permanently removes the July 1, 2032 sunset provision that allows Team USA Olympic and Paralympic student athletes who train in California to qualify for resident classification in California’s public higher education systems and would allow eligible non-resident Team USA student athletes to pay resident tuition and fees while they train in California
AB 2466 – Strong Workforce Program
Authorizes Strong Workforce Program funds used by regional consortia to provide support to students and employers for paid work-based learning to increase employability and job opportunities in high demand fields.
AB 2523 – CCC/CSU/UC Governing Board Contact Info
Increases transparency in California’s public higher education institutions and access to contact information for governing board members by requiring the California State University (CSU) and the California Community Colleges (CCC) to display governing board members’ biographies and official contact information on their websites and requesting the University of California (UC) to do the same.
AB 2572 – US/ International Universities Joint Degrees
Makes a targeted change to remove an outdated reference to the California Postsecondary Education Commission, which is no longer operational, and broadens the California State University’s (CSU) authority to jointly award doctoral degrees with accredited international institutions.
Increases the educational standard for licensed acupuncturists from a master’s degree to an entry-level professional doctorate, aligning training with the modern scope of practice and strengthening consumer protections.
AB 2726 – Surplus Technology in K-12/CCC
Establishes a process for school districts, county offices of education (COEs) and California Community College Districts (CCCDs) to dispose of surplus technology, such as computers, mobile devices, and related network hardware, software or accessories.
Modernizes California’s international trade and investment strategy by expanding program activities, establishing a Global Partnership Advisory Body, updating its five-year strategic planning process, and authorizing regional trade hubs within the state.
Declares February 17, 2026 as the beginning of the 2026 Lunar New Year, the year of the Fire Horse.
