ALHAMBRA, CA — On Saturday, November 22, Assemblymember Mike Fong hosted Operation Gobble in Rosemead, California, to support local families within Assembly District 49 in need this Thanksgiving season. Volunteers from the California School Employees Association assisted in distributing over 140 turkeys to families during the event.

Assemblymember Fong extends his appreciation to the San Gabriel Valley Water Company, the Garvey School District, and the Kiwanis Club of Rosemead for donating the turkeys during this year’s distribution. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of California American Water and the Golden State Water Company, monetary donations were offered to six nonprofit organizations to provide additional food assistance within the San Gabriel Valley.

“For many families, this season brings in more worry than celebration. Too many are facing food insecurity, and, together with our partners, I am grateful to be able to provide support to our neighbors,” said Assemblymember Fong. “Our community is built on extending a helping hand to those in need, especially as we conclude a very challenging year. This is a reminder that when we uplift each other, we also uplift our spirits."

Assemblymember Fong also highlighted his recent legislative accomplishments, including several bills being signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. He emphasized his ongoing work to expand student support and break barriers to accessing higher education heading into this next legislative year.

He concluded the event by reaffirming his commitment to ensuring that families in the 49th Assembly District can enjoy a nourishing meal and access resources needed to finish off the year strong.
